Golden Touch

The music soars and swoops,
Rippling fingers caress the keys
Showering shivery delights into the dark,

Tingling the senses.
Notes tumble over notes,
Free-wheeling, mellow,
Shifting moods with easy grace,
Gifts of the elegant jazz man.
And caught in time’s shadows,
The Dancer
Wrapped in big band magic,
Once again swings and sways
With Becky in his arms,
Becky, lighter than air,
Blue eyes sparkling, silk dress swirling—
Floating back—sweet sax sounds fading,

He smiles, dreamily,
Foot still tapping to the beat.
